A BLOT ON THE LANDSCAPE!
Written by Lynda Broad

Have you noticed the huge incinerator chimney that has suddenly grown up, on the Ineos Chlor site, across the estuary, from Pickerings Pasture and Hale Duck Decoy?thumb_p1010884  It dominates the skyline, spoiling the view and, eventually, the monster, will pump out it's waste, into an area and environment that has already suffered more than it's fair share of polluting industries.

I wonder what you think about it. Pickerings Pasture is a reclaimed waste dump and isn't it just wonderful now. Why is the waste of Greater Manchester to be dealt with here in Halton. Don't we deserve a little beauty and clean air?

Written by Lynda Broad

thumb_little_egretIt was a crisp November afternoon, today, on the 25th, at Pickerings Pasture. On the scrape, we saw two Little Egret and two Snipe, along with a Redshank and a couple of dozen Canada Geese. There were Wigeon on the Estuary and  a huge number of Lapwings and Golden Plover, on the field between Pickerings and Halegate Road. It was a lovely afternoon for a walk and some bird watching. thumb_snipe

Along with some FoPP members they tackled the problem and got the water moving. It'll be several days before we know how successful we've been. We plan to repeat the exercise, next Friday, if necessary.

BTCV returned on the 27th October, along with 15 volunteers and 3 members of the FoPP. More vegetation, along the pipes, was cleared and Gary, from the FoPP, built a table, for the seating area.
