June -August
When most of the young grey herons were fledging, one of the pairs laid a repeat clutch and only hatched their young in mid June. Fortunately for us, the nest site was quite exposed and it has been possible to watch the comings and going of this family, with the web-cam. The young one fledged in early August but remains around the pond, occasionally being fed by its parents. The adult little owl has also been seen back visiting the nest site, via the web-cam, especially when it is raining - so presumably it uses it to shelter.

The Friends of Pickerings Pasture (and Hale Duck Decoy) held an other project day, on Hale Duck Decoy, on the 20th August 2010.
With the support of Anne Faulkner, the new Pickerings Pasture ranger, we cleared a path round the decoy, to make it easier for visitors to walk round. There will be a Heritage Day walk there, from Pickerings Pasture, on the 11th September. Places are limited so ring Anne on 425 4706, if you'd like to visit.

Members of the FoPP stopped for lunch and a well earned rest, after working hard to clear overgrown areas of Hale Duck Decoy, around the cottage and to the fronts of the three bird hides.
There will be a further Project Day, at the Decoy, on August 20th. Do contact us, through this website, if you think you'd like to help out or come along to our next meeting, at Pickerings Pasture Visitors Centre, on August 7th, 1.30-3.30pm.
