March - May
The weather has played an important part in the onset of Spring, this year: with the cold weather in February, the snowdrops were not at their best until very early March. During the last two weeks of March, the wind was from the North or North West and consequently it was very cold, slowing down all signs of spring.

Anne Faulkner has started work, as the new ranger, at Pickerings Pasture. As she still has some duties at her previous site, Runcorn Hill, she is busy dashing back and forth at the moment. Pop into the Visitors Centre, though, and you'll see that she is already making her mark.
The Friends of Pickerings Pasture have a Project Day, painting/staining benches and fences, at Pickerings, on Thursday May 20th, from 9.30am. Our next meeting is on Monday 7th June, 6.30-8.30pm.

The group was a mixed bunch but all were very interested in seeing the Decoy for the first time, especially the youngest member of the group, who was keen to use his new binoculars.

The FoPP and volunteers from the Croda 1% Club spent a morning, on the 11th November, cutting back the bramble and saplings, in front of the Pickerings Pasture hide. Hard work but the improvement in visibility, for bird watchers, is always much appreciated.
The FoPP were several members down and the extra hands, provide by the Croda volunteers, proved extremely useful.
