little_owlthe_owlslittle_owl_laysand_then_there_were_three Halton Borough Council have set up a number of webcams on their wildlife sites.

In April and May I watched, with great excitement, as little owl eggs were laid, in a nest box, at Hale Duck Decoy. There were four laid in all. Three eggs hatched out but only one youngster survived in the end. It was amazing to watch the drama unfold, day by day.

There was a lot going on in nest boxes on other sites too. The Halton feathered baby boom is more or less over now but do take a look at the webcams. You'll be amazed at how you can get up close and see the action, live. You can replay too, to look for special moments, that you might have missed. You can find them on the HBC website.
