Our trap was set for the first time this year on Friday evening: 29th August. Fifty seven moths of twenty species were recorded.

Light-brown Apple moth 3       Brown China-mark 1         Bloodvein 2

Common Marbled Carpet 1      Coxcomb Prominent 1

Large Yellow Underwing 23      Lesser Yellow Underwing 3

Lesser broad-bordered Y U 2   Small Square-spot 1

Square-spot Rustic 7          Brown-spot Pinion 1    Copper Underwing  3

Mouse Moth 1                   Old Lady 1                 Angleshades 1

Common Rustic 1               Flounced Rustic 1        Rosy Rustic 1

Gold Spot 1                      Straw Dot 1

Brown-spot Pinion is essentially an Autumnal moth, a lovely one to see but a sad reminder that our Summer is nearly over.

Old Lady is one of Britain's largest moths, dull brown but beautifully marked.  Ours was a very worn specimen, unfortunately.
